What do I do at a clinical/field experience?

It is, in large part, a preceptor's job to teach you! They know that you are either new to EMS or new to your scope of practice and have a lot to learn. Prior to being cleared to begin clinical/field experiences, you will be tested on your scope of practice skills and knowledge. This guarantees that you are fully equipped to actively engage in your experiences when the time comes.

During your clinical/field experiences, you will gain invaluable hands-on experience in both hospital environments and in field settings. As a student, you are encouraged to demonstrate teamwork and a proactive attitude, actively participating within your designated scope of practice. In every instance, you are encouraged to fully engage with your learning experience: ask your preceptor questions, observe as much as possible, participate in any skill or activity within your scope of practice, and make the most of the incredible opportunities available to you through the clinical/field experiences.
