How Do I Test For My Advanced EMT While Continuing Through the Paramedic Program?

We understand that you may be interested in testing for your Advanced EMT with the ultimate goal of completing the Paramedic program. There are many reasons for doing so; pay wage boosts and experience being the top feedback we get. If you would like to do this, almost nothing changes in your course, except for the fact that once you complete the below mentioned requirements, you will be able to test for the AEMT National Registry cognitive exam.

Coursework: You will complete your coursework in the same order, but once you complete the "Special Populations" unit, you would have completed all didactic requirements of the AEMT portion of the program. In doing so, you will need to complete the following fisdap exams: Airway and Breathing Unit Exam, Trauma Unit Exam, OB/Pediatrics Unit Exam, AEMT Final Exam.

Skills Lab Competencies: You will need to attend the following skills lab sessions: Session 1 and Session 2, as well as complete the required documentation for those sessions.

Clinical/Field Experience Competencies: You will need to complete exactly HALF of the clinical competencies required for the Paramedic program. Please pull the "AEMT Goal Set" report in FISDAP to see if you've completed the required SMC requirements.

Once you have succeeded at meeting the above requirements, you will do the following:
  1. Create a National Registry Candidate Application for the Advanced EMT level, using your existing account if possible at https://www.nremt.org/
  2. Email support@axoneducation.com with the subject line, "PATT Request" and understand that it may take 2-3 weeks for the Faculty Team to verify course progress and fulfil your request for a Pre-Authorization To Test.
  3. Once you have received your PATT, you will be able to sign up for your cognitive exam.
