How Should I Navigate Canvas to Complete My Assignments Successfully?
To get started with your assignments, first log in to Canvas, click on your course from the dashboard, and head to the “Modules” tab. The course modules are organized in a way that allows you to follow the course curriculum as it's designed for your respective program—just start at the top and work your way down.
Each module builds on the previous one, so you'll need to complete all prerequisite items before you can unlock the next section. If a module appears greyed out, it means you haven’t finished the required work in the previous module. This is intentional—it keeps you on track and ensures you're not skipping over key materials you'll need later.
Helpful tips about the Modules tab in Canvas:
Some assignments will ask you to review a document or attestation and then click “Mark as Done” at the bottom of the page.
Other tasks may redirect you to an external site or application. Once you’ve completed the task, return to Canvas and either click “Mark as Done” or respond to any required questions that it requires to move forward.
When scrolling through Modules, if the grey header on the sections has a green checkmark, that section has been completed. If it has a red minus sign in a circle, then something in that module is missing or incomplete.
Want to know which assignments count toward your final grade? Click on the Grades tab in your course to see a full breakdown.
Unless otherwise noted in the assignment, chapter quizzes must be passed with a minimum score of 80%, however, you can take them an unlimited amount of times.
