What Can I Expect from the Course Completion Process?

What Can I Expect from the Course Completion Process?

Preparing to Submit Your Course Completion Request

Before submitting your Course Completion Request, please review the following important information to ensure a smooth process:

Process Timeline: Once you submit your request, processing can take up to 2–3 weeks, though it may be completed sooner. During this time, faculty carefully review each of your course requirements and may request additional assignments or tasks if your documentation is incomplete or inadequate. Please be diligent about checking your email regularly and promptly complete any outstanding assignments or tasks to avoid delays in your course completion.

Timely Submission: We understand it can be stressful if your MCD has passed and you haven’t yet received your course completion confirmation. However, if you have passed your final exam, attended your required skills lab(s), completed all clinical and field internships (for all students), and finished capstones internships (for paramedic students only), you will not be penalized for exceeding course deadlines.
  1. If you submitted your request on or before your MCD and have been actively communicating with faculty about any outstanding assignments, your original submission date will be honored, provided all requirements are met on time.
  2. If you’re feeling uncertain or want peace of mind, please don’t hesitate to ask us for a quick review of your progress—we’re here to help!

Course Completion Process Overview

Alert** Your Course ID, which is required when submitting your Course Completion Request, can be found at the top of your Canvas dashboard. It will look something like: "PAR_2025-06".
Here’s what happens after you submit your Course Completion Request:
  1. Faculty will evaluate your clinical and field documentation to verify that all end-of-shift requirements and documentation expectations have been met.
  2. After passing the faculty review, your course completion will be forwarded to the instructional team to confirm that all didactic requirements are complete.
  3. Terminal Competency Meeting (Paramedic Only) - Paramedic students will be prompted to schedule and complete their Terminal Competency Meeting with the Medical Director. EMT and AEMT students do not complete this step.
  4. Once verified, your course completion will be sent to the Review Board for final approval.
