What happens if I don’t pass the NREMT exam?
If you don’t pass the NREMT exam, you are allowed to retake it. The number of retake attempts and the waiting period between each attempt depends on your certification level (EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic). Candidates can retake the exam up to three times after their initial attempt, with a mandatory 15-day waiting period between attempts. If you do not pass after three retakes, you must complete a remedial training program before attempting the exam again. If you do not pass the exam within your next three attempts, then you will be required to redo your entire program.
For detailed requirements set forth by the NREMT, please visit the
NREMT website.
