What is a negative drug screen?
A negative drug screen means that the drug test results show no evidence of illegal or prohibited substances in a student's or applicant's system. This result indicates that the person tested does not have detectable levels of the drugs for which the test was designed to screen.
A negative result generally defined as:
- No detection of any of the substances tested, or
- The concentration of any detected substances is below the established threshold or cutoff level set by the testing standards.
These cutoff levels are designed to avoid false positives from incidental or trace exposure to substances.
